Meet The Wonders Team: Kris Kish, Creative Director

Kris Kish - Creative Director

Name: Kris Kish

Job Title: Creative Director & Project Lead

Describe yourself in 1 sentence.
I’m an endlessly curious geek at heart and a golden optimist who wants to leave this world a better place than I found it.

What game got you into TCGs/CCGs?
Pokemon

Would you consider yourself a collector, player, or both?

While I would like to consider myself both, I haven’t played as much tabletop CCG’s other than beta testing Wonders recently. If I had to choose, I’d probably fall more into the collector category right now.

Do you have a favorite moment in your CCG career?

Maybe not my favorite, but definitely the most memorable moment of my CCG career was at E3 1999 in Chicago. I was 10 or 11 years old playing my first ever sanctioned Pokemon tournament against a much better Haymaker deck (remember those?). I had an all fire deck and had finally evolved my Charmander to everyone’s favorite kaiju, Charizard, when the older kid I was playing against – wide eyed – says, “Hey man, I think you really want to put that thing in a sleeve.”

Yeah, I was playing a 1st Edition Charizard in a deck with no sleeves… Needless to say, my opponent crushed my deck, kicking me out of the tournament, but he also kept my most sacred collectible asset from receiving any more damage. To this day, I have that stranger to thank for nothing worse than a PSA 5 1st Edition Charizard. Could have been worse.

Solfera Land - Blazing Phoenix Pub
Blazing Phoenix Pub

What is your favorite WoTF Character Proof?

I fell in love with the Blazing Phoenix Pub as soon as I saw it. It’s not the biggest or most grand place in the Wonders universe, but it has personality, grit, and a giant freakin’ phoenix over the door! I can only imagine the stories this place holds.

What can people find you doing in your spare time?

You can find me outside staying active with my pup, Milo, building relationships with my community, or exploring new hideouts in Venice Beach. I support and help facilitate mens’ circles, recently been training parkour, and love hitting up one of LA’s many beaches or trails.

Any tips for newcomers to Wonders of The First?

Jump into the community! Don’t be afraid to ask questions and reach out to the team. We love to hear from everyone who joins our universe and there are so many helpful people ready and willing to support your journey into Wonders and beyond. It’s been a blessing to get to know so many of our long time supporters, and I can’t wait to meet you, too!
